Balancing Report 2026
The ENTSO-E 2026 Balancing Report showcases fundamental advances in European Balancing Market
Europe’s power system is becoming increasingly dynamic, with growing shares of renewables and new flexibility resources changing how electricity is balanced in real time. The EB Regulation (EU 2017/2195) provides the common rules that enable TSOs to cooperate across borders and operate efficient, transparent and secure balancing markets.
The ENTSO‑E Balancing Report 2026 offers an overview of recent progress in implementing the European balancing market design from June 2025 to May 2026. It highlights developments in balancing energy platforms, cross‑border capacity procurement, and methodologies, supported by performance indicators for 2025
The report also presents national balancing market updates from each TSO, summarising key technical and regulatory developments in line with the EB Regulation.
