ENTSO-E welcomes the opening of discussions between the EU and Switzerland and in particular the work on an electricity agreement between the EU and Switzerland, which is crucial for the secure and efficient functioning of the synchronously interconnected European transmission grid.

An electricity agreement would be key to the reinforcement of grid stability and to the strengthening of the security of supply both in Switzerland and in the EU. In addition, the agreement would also help regulate Swissgrid’s access to the regional structures and processes for grid operation, providing long-term legal certainty in operations.

ENTSO-E looks forward to the continuation of this positive cooperation, as well as to a timely conclusion of negotiations on an electricity agreement.
