This week the European Technology and Innovation Platform Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) presents long term key priorities to enable the transition towards a reliable and sustainable European electricity system with very high shares of renewables. Overall the roadmap estimates that 2.5 billion euros investments in Research and Innovation are needed over the next 10 years to help manage Europe’s Energy Transition as a system.
ENTSO-E has launched a web-based public consultation on Harmonised Allocation Rules for long-term transmission rights and invites all interested parties to submit comments by 17 February 2017. ENTSO-E is also organising a stakeholder workshop on 7 February 2017 in Brussels to provide information about, and receive feedback on, the draft Harmonised Allocation Rules.
In the summer of 2016, all TSOs submitted the Common Grid Model Methodology (CGMM) as well as the Generation and Load Data Provision Methodology (GLDPM) to all regulatory authorities (NRAs) for approval under Regulation 2015/1222 (“CACM Guideline”). Stakeholders had earlier been consulted on these documents and the public consultation included a workshop held at ENTSO-E Secretariat on 18 February 2016.

To support the implementation of the Electricity Balancing Guideline (EB GL), several pilot initiatives have been set up. The common market for procurement and exchange of Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) constitutes such a project.
