In November 2023, the European Commission released the Action Plan for Grids (COM/2023/757), setting out how to strengthen and modernise Europe’s electricity networks. As part of this plan, ENTSO-E and DSO Entity were tasked with identifying and showcasing innovative and implemented technologies that enhance grid utilisation, stability, security, and resilience.
To meet this goal, the two associations developed a shared platform that brings together key information on grid technologies — including their challenges, benefits, and real-world use cases. A transparent application process allowed stakeholders from across Europe to contribute, ensuring that the platform reflects practical experience and a broad range of expertise.
The Technopedia highlights a simple truth: the energy transition is a shared responsibility. By gathering insights from system operators and other relevant actors, the platform supports collaboration and strengthens collective knowledge on the technologies shaping Europe’s future power system.
To stay aligned with a rapidly changing grid landscape, new factsheets will be added every year, and existing ones will be regularly reviewed and updated.
Explore the new website and access the first 12 technology factsheets.
