The long-term analysis results are showing the importance to anticipate the measures to secure capacity to meet future adequacy needs in relation also to more flexible electricity supply and demand.

ENTSO-E welcomes the feedback from stakeholders through the consultation opened today until 13 January 2023.

ERAA investigates whether the electricity system has sufficient resources to meet demand – also referred as power system resource adequacy - in the coming decade which sets us on a net-zero pathway. The report is built upon models and analyses on possible events which can adversely impact the balance between supply and demand of electric power.

Among the key findings, the report identifies various measures to be implemented to ensure sufficient capacity capable to respond fast to sudden variation of demand and supply. In this context, regional coordination is also important particularly when discussing assumptions and investment capacity which taken in one country will influence the neighbouring area.

Following the methodologies approved by ACER in October 2020, the ERAA has become a key tool for the detection of adequacy concerns at a pan-European level. The ERAA aims at providing stakeholders and policy makers with the data and insights necessary to make informed, qualified decisions and promote the development of the pan-European power system in a reliable, sustainable and connected manner. Stakeholders are welcome to provide input on the conclusions from ERAA until 13 January 2023.
