Today, the ENTSOs for electricity and gas launch the web-based public consultation on their proposed storylines as a first step in the formal process for the 2020 scenario building. The ENTSOs scenarios The consultation period starts today, running from 2 July until 7 September 2018.

The scenarios are a cornerstone for analysis on the future power system, starting with long term network development planning in the Ten Years Network Development Plan. The TYNDP is a biennial European network development exercise which electricity and gas ENTSOs are developing in line with the legal mandates (Regulations (EC) 714 and 715/2009). They offer the frame under which the future is analysed in view of identifying the investment needs and benefits of future electricity and gas projects. It provides a view on elements e.g. energy demand, prices, technology developments.

ENTSO-E, together with ENTSO-G, invites all stakeholders and interested parties to provide feedback on the proposed five TYNDPs 2020 scenario storylines, which are:

  1. National Trends
  2. Global Ambition
  3. European Focus
  4. Distributed Energy
  5. Delayed Transition
